Whilst I was in Europe last year shooting weddings, I had planned on taking a week and a half off to drive up to the Isle of Skye in Scotland to explore, hike and relax. The weather was typically dismal most days on the island but on the 3rd day there was a blue skye forecast! So I popped on my hiking boots and drove up to the Quirang to do a day’s hike. Whilst on one of the scenic spots about an hour into the hike I met a couple (Loes and Thijs from Holland) who were trying to take some nice selfies of themselves. Being a photographer, I’m not shy to offer my assistance in taking a photo of couples when traveling. So from a few photos of them on the Quirang we got chatting and I asked them if they would like to meet me the following morning at Old Man Storr for an official shoot – and they said yes!
From meeting complete strangers to becoming good friends the next day, it was such a fantastic morning running around the fields in Scotland getting some gorgeous shots. These guys were so natural and giggles were a’plenty! It just goes to show I am terrible at having “days off” and I’m always on the look out for pretty locations and fun couples to photograph! One day I’ll have a true holiday…
“Ooooooo Thijs and I are so happy that we’ve met you on the isle of skye in Scotland!! We’re so glad that we’ve got the opportunity to make these amazing photos with you. As you’ve noticed Thijs was feeling a bit uncomfortable (okay me too to be honest) on forehand just with the idea of being in front of the camara and having to ‘pose’. But the great part of it was that you didn’t want us to pose  just be ourselves and have fun with each other. That was not difficult at all! You’ve made us feel so comfortable and the photos turned out so pretty, so spontaneous and in the moment. Thank you so much!” – Loes and Thijs
